1969 – 2011
A french book about Tina’s life published in November 2009.
A very special post today! 2 years ago on this day, Tina Turner opened a series of concerts (March 21 and 22 and May 2) at the GelreDome in Arnhem, The Netherlands. The shows were the biggest during Tina’s 50th anniversary tour, with approximately 33,000 fans in the stadium each night. Together with the concert in Prague, these were the only concerts with a standing audience. For this reason, the show was recorded for the dvd of the tour, but it was special also for a lot of other reasons.
In this post, you will find photos and newspaper articles from this show. Also, a (long) report about our experiences this weekend, written by Ben!
For our second Tina Turner fan of the month post, we got to know a bit more of Tina’s American superfan Laurel! We asked Laurel a few questions about her Tina Turner passion!

In 1982, Tina Turner contributed two songs to the soundtrack of the movie Summer Lovers. A cover of the Robert Palmer song Johnny and Mary and the song Crazy In The Night. The first song was also later released on the 1994 The Collected Recordings 60′s to 90′s compilation box set, while the song Crazy In The Night was never released on CD. Crazy In The Night is actually a song written by George Porter, member of Australian rock band Sherbet. This band was managed during the 1970′s by Tina’s manager Roger Davies. Click below to listen to different versions the song and watch the video.
RTL tv made a report about Tina Turner’s boyfriend Erwin Bach while they where in Milan, Italy, for the Armani fashion shows. Erwin Bach, a German record executive from Cologne, has been Tina’s partner since 1986. Click ‘continue reading’ to watch the video and a selection of HQ pictures of Tina & Erwin together!
Update: On March 21st 2013, it was announced that after 27 years together, Erwin Bach & Tina Turner were getting married! More here.
Tina Turner mentions her first love Harry Taylor in her 1986 autobiography ‘I, Tina’. The book shows photos from his high school years, but more rare are these photos of Tina and Harry together during a high school reunion in the mid-1970′s. These photos and article appeared in the 1990′s in Dutch magazine ‘Top 10′, and maybe in other publications internationally.
For the translated text of the article, and Tina talking about her first love in a 2005 interview in ‘O’ magazine, read below! Continue reading
