12 years ago today: Tina performs in Las Vegas

12 years ago today, Tina Turner performed at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, United States. This was one of two ‘Millenium concerts’, the second concert took place one day later on December 31st. The shows were double headliner gigs with Elton John. Tina & Elton were originally supposed to go on tour together, but these plans were cancelled after an argument during the rehearsals for their Divas Live appearance earlier that year (see here). These two concerts in Las Vegas were the only shows they did together, however, Tina and Elton played separate sets and didn’t appear on stage together. The show on December 30 was open to everybody, the real new year’s eve show a day later was a private show. Below, you will find three songs from this concert and the set list of Tina’s show. Tina Turner – A Current Affair tv interview – Australia – 1993

A 1993 tv interview on the Australian show A Current Affair, for the promotion for Tina Turner’s 1993 album, movie and tour What’s Love Got To Do With It. During the interview, Tina is confronted with footage of an earlier interview with her ex-husband Ike Turner, which creates an uncomfortable atmosphere. However, Tina manages to get through the interview gracefully, simply explaining ‘I don’t want to start an argument with Ike Turner via satellite’. Very interesting interview!

Tina Turner: “No Stage Come Back!”

Yvonne Beister interviewed Tina Turner last saturday in Berlin and asked her if she would come back on stage one day. Turner answered that she is not going to come back on stage – from now on she only wants to do things that will make her happy…

Beauty secret?

“I’m always in motion, do gymnastics, do not eat too greasy and I surround myself with no negative thoughts.”

“My spirituality. I had a hard time. The faith has made me strong. Everyone has a divine power in him that makes him strong. “

Stage comeback?

“I come back no more. I will not go back to the stage in order to make people happy. From now on I will focus on making myself happy. “

27 years ago today: Tina performs in Melbourne, Australia

27 years ago today, Tina Turner performed a concert in Melbourne, Australia at the Hilton hotel. This concert marked the end of her 1984 Private Dancer tour. Due to the unexpected success of the Private Dancer album, Tina was still playing at small venues that had been booked before her big comeback. In 1985, her Private Dancer world tour would continue, this time in large, sold-out arenas accross Europe and the United States. Tina Turner & Children Beyond – Sports Awards Zurich – December 11, 2011 (updated December 23, 2011)

The Children Beyond group: Tina Turner, Regula Curti, Dechen Shak-Dagsay and the children performed at the Swiss Sports Awards in Zurich, Switzerland tonight. They performed “When You Sing” a medley of songs from the Children Beyond album, at the end of the gala show. The show was be broadcast live on Swiss television. Tina looked great, the ‘remix’ of Beyond songs sounded very fresh,  and Regula, Dechen and the children did excellent!
