On August 7 and 8, 1985, Tina Turner gave two concerts at the Jones Beach Marine Theater in Wantagh, New York. These shows were a part of her Private Dancer world tour. Below you will find three songs from the first concert: One Of The Living, Steel Claw and (very rare on the tour) Chris Montez’s Let’s Dance (written by Jim Lee). This is an audience recording, so the quality is not optimal.

Steel Claw
Let’s Dance
Excelente!!!! me encanto, como siempre espectacular, gracias por el material, lo disfrute mucho.
De nada Marga!
Thanks so much for this rare material! It’s wonderful!
But just a note besides: the last track isn’t Bowie’s version
Do you have any idea, whether it has been also presented in that concert after the “old” version?
My God – 27 years ago?? Thanks so much for digging these up! Is there a way to download them?
Thanks again,
K
Doesn’t make us any younger huh
This concert is one of my favourites. It was my first TIna experience at 4 years old
Any memories of it Faye?
We watched it on video time and time again, I still do now! Growing up I remember the white feather outfit for ‘Private Dancer’ the most and I always love ‘Better be good to me’ and ‘I can’t stand the rain’.I didn’t see Tina live until I was 19!
I am bit confused here faye
Are you talking about the video of this concert in particular? Tina in Wantagh? Or about the official Private Dancer Tour video?
Because i never heard there was a bootleg video of Tina in Wantagh 85, but if there is i want it
No, not a video live in Wantagh. It is the official private dancer tour video I’m referring too. Sorry for the confusion, lol
Good so now, we are clear
Thanks Faye!
Yes, great show indeed! These songs sound amazing! Thank you so so much! By the way, this is not David Bowie´s “Let´s Dance”; this one is from a talented songwriters duo, Doc Pomus and Mort Shuman. Tina did it a couple of times in the U.S. leg of that Tour.
Thanks for correcting us, our mistake. We updated the post.
But I didn’t find any information on this being written by Doc Pomus and Mort Shuman. According to what I found, it was originally recorded by Chris Montez, written by Jim Lee.
Well, as Todd says, who cares?! But I´ve searched again, and found both infos. Anyway, thanks again for the post!!
thank you! so hot! who cares who’s version. its tina! i would dancing…it rocks…love the energy. lets dance!
Great energy indeed! Thanks for your comment Todd!
