The musical Soul Sister, based on the music and life of Ike & Tina Turner than opened at the Savoy Theatre in London’s West End on August 20 (and got fantastic reviews) is coming to the Netherlands. The performances are scheduled at the World Forum Theater in Den Haag, from December 28, 2012 until January 16, 2013! Tonight, the musical Soul Sister, based on the music and life of Ike & Tina Turner will open at the Savoy Theatre in London’s West End. The musical had a previous, very succesful run at the Hackney Empire, and has now been moved to the center of London’s theater scene! The musical will play at the theater from August 20 until September 29, with the official premiere taking place this Thursday, August 23. Soul Sister, the musical based on the life of Tina Turner, featuring many of Ike & Tina’s and Tina’s solo hits, will move the Savoy Theatre on London’s West End. The musical premiered in April of this year at Hackney Empire to excellent reviews. The original run ended at the beginning of this month, but today it was announced that the musical will return! On April 14, the musical Soul Sister, inspired by Tina Turner’s life story and music, will premiere at London’s Hackney Empire theatre. The show stars Emi Wokoma as Tina and Chris Tummings as Ike Turner, and it will feature many of Tina’s biggest hits. Tina Turner, nor anybody from her team is involved in the show, but it might still be an interesting night out for Tina fans in the area! Elton John and Tim Rice’s Aida, sometimes known as the “Concept Album”, was released in 1999 in advance of the theatrical production, and features Elton performing the music along with a number of pop stars, including Tina Turner, Sting, Shania Twain, The Spice Girls. It also included Heather Headley and Sherie René Scott, both of whom went on to reprise their roles in the original Broadway production the following year.
