TINA – Key Largo Live in Paris – 1982

Scroll down to content

An audio recording of Tina Turner performing a cover of the Bertie Higgins’ song Key Largo, live at Le Palace in Paris on March 29, 1982. As far as we know, this is the only existing recording of Tina performing this song. Unfortunately, the quality of the audio file is very bad, but still worth a listen, especially for the fans. The picture above is from that concert. Click below for the song and lyrics.

Lyrics

Wrapped around each other
Trying so hard to stay warm
That first cold winter together
Lying in each others arms
Watching those old movies
Falling in love so desperately
Honey, I was your hero
And you were my leading lady

We had it all
Just like Bogie and Bacall
Starring in our old late, late show
Sailing away to Key Largo

Here’s lookin’ at you kid
Missing all the things we did
We can find it once again, I know
Just like they did in Key Largo

Honey, can’t you remember
We played all the parts
That sweet scene of surrender
When you gave me your heart
Please say you will
Play it again
‘Cause I love you still
Baby, this can’t be the end

We had it all
(We had it all)
Just like Bogie and Bacall
Starring in our old late, late show
Sailing away to Key Largo

Here’s lookin’ at you kid
(Here’s lookin’ at you kid)
Missing all the things we did
We can find it once again, I know
Just like they did in Key Largo

We had it all
(We had it all)
Just like Bogie and Bacall
Starring in our old late, late show
Sailing away to Key Largo

  2. The Nice’n rough concert should be available without any songs edited out. Wonder if the footage still exists.
This is the best post yet on your fantastic blog!

    1. Thanks a lot! I do think however that the Nice ‘N’ Rough concert available on video is almost a complete concert from that era, save maybe 2 or 3 songs. I think Tina would adjust her show quite often to include some songs that were hits at the moment, such as Key Largo. Also during this era she sang other ballads such as Help, Crazy In The Night and Rock ‘N’ Roll Widow.

  3. but her voice was the best during this period. check out her performance of “rock n roll widow” and “steel claw” on the tonight show in 1982…

  5. Can’t believe I just stumbled on this now – almost a year later! It’s so rare to find a Tina song that I have never heard before! That just made my day!!! If there is any way you could email me the audio file of this, I would be so grateful! Would love to have it on my iPod so I could play it in the car with the windows down this summer!! Thanks in advance!

  6. Tina did record a song, called: We Had It All (written by: Donnie Frits — Troy Seals) as a single in 1979. On the other side “If This Is The Last Time” written by Dallas Frazier on the label Wagner Irda. I’ve never heard them, I just read the info somewhere on the net.
Is the We Had It All the same as this Key Largo song?

    1. It is a different song Tommy. You find it on records such as “Soul Deep”…”Tina goes country”….”Tina sings country” and probably on dozens of different editions of this record :-).
But Key Largo is a much nicer song, wish we had a nice version of it!

  7. I’ll add my thanks and congratulations on the gem of a find! I too remember this very lovely song on the radio, and am shocked to see Tina’s version. She sounds so beautiful and soulful. She has one of the most varied song catalogs of any artist ever – and should be in the Guinness Book of Records, as such.
