A very happy birthday to Tina Turner! Today, Tina turns 72. That’s right, the queen of rock was born on this day in 1939 in Brownsville, Tennessee. Tina will probably be celebrating this special day in Zurich, while her fans are coming together in Amsterdam this weekend for the annual fan birthday party! For those who of you who can’t be with us in Amsterdam, you will find a video of Tina performing the song Open Arms in 2004 on the Swiss tv-show Benissimo. Because this show was recorded a day after her 65th birthday, Tina receives a big birthday shout-out from the audience. Also, don’t forget to post your birthday wishes to Tina in the comments section: she might just read them!

  17. Hi Tina, WOW! That’s all I can say, what a special day it is. I have followed your birthdays since 1997 on Radio. They always announce birthdays and play the artist’s song and share some retrospective. I’ll miss that Today because it’s a Saturday but it remains a special day to me anyway. I still hope and pray that i’ll see you live in South Africa. I was not born when you came for the first time in 1980. I was too little when you came in 1996 but I remember watching that concert on TV, the South African interviews, Goldeneye etc, so memorable. I missed the 50th Anniversary tour as you didn’t come here. Before I get carried away with excitement, this is where I stop, enjoy
