  1. I’m gobsmacked that Tina prefers no accessability to her fans who were instrumental to getting her to where she is today.

  2. I am 61 yrs and and have followed TINA for years, especially when she made her come back in the 80’s. I saw her in concert 5 times in 3 different states and was thrilled to watch and hear her sing.

BUT!! The comments TINA has made for example, IT WAS A JOB PERFORMING, WANTING TO RETIRE BUT COULDN’T UNTIL SHE WAS SURE SHE HAD MONEY IN PLACE. I UNDERSTAND WHY SHE MOVED UP NOW I FIND HER WITH A LACK OF RESPECT FOR THE FANS THAT PUT HER IN HER WAY OF LIVING.

SHE DOESN’T TO BE AVAILABLE TO HER FANS, LIKE SHE IS ABOVE US. TINA HAS BROKEN MY HEART AND FOR ALL HER PAST COMMENTS AND SUCKING UP TO THE SWISS I HAVE LOST ALL RESPECT FOR HER.

    I DON’T INTEND TO WASTE MY TIME ON HER AS A PERSON. I DON’T KNOW WHO SHE IS ANY MORE AND DON’T CARE!!;

AS I SAID SHE HAS BROKE MY HEART!!

  3. Why bother to have a blog??? She is not interested. I agree with the above comments and I am the same age with the same experiences of following Tina for a lifetime. It’s upsetting and I don’t feel the same about her anymore.

  4. Wow! So many hurt feelings from an interview that is cut off prior to her giving a full explanation as to why how she defines accessible and why she chooses not to be. Quite frankly when I read the title for this post, my immediate impression was that I could understand how she feels. There are moments where I wish I was less accessible (reachable) to all the people in my life. I can only imagine what it must be like to be famous and be expected to be responsive to fans when I am trying to enjoy some private time. For years Tina, even when she’s been sick, pregnant, or nursing wounds, has put every ounce of her soul into delivering performances in which she held nothing back in order to ensure her fans left happy and energized. She has earned the right to not be accessible in her private life.

    1. Why are u making excuses for her? She has her own mouth to speak. Let’s just put this to rest. She, who was Simply the Best, is now no better than all the rest.

  6. Shocking indeed. She´s been pretty difficult to ´reach´ for quite awhile people, did you expect her to start tweeting and chatting on FB on her retirement days?

    1. I agree with you Matthew. We can’t expect Tina to be out and about just because. She doesn’t need to do stuff to attract attention from the public just because every celebrities do so nowadays. She’s retired and living a private life. We need to respect that. 🙂

  7. Wow! Some negative comments here huh?! I understand TIna though. That’s what you called retirement. You retire so you don’t have to or expect to be bombarded by fans and paparazzi. She wants to finally live a private life. She’s doing an interview so far. So she’s still reachable. She said she Prefer NOT to be reachable but She IS reachable when it comes to work and being out on the publics eye. Now her private life on the other hand, is NOT reachable and accessible to the public anymore that it was before. So… I understand her. And Thanks Giys for sharing this. I love it and I still love Tina. Simply THE best! And she deserves all she wants in her life now. She EARNED it!

    1. If you look at her old photos/videos, her left eye is a bit smaller and she have un -even mouth on her right side. And I’m sure she had some Botox or a bit of surgery done to her face too. Nobody looks that good at her age.

  8. Tina’s comment really shook me up. Like most of her fans her it’s her strength that made us fall in love with her. I understand %100 how difficult it’s been at times for her to fulfill decades of concert commitments, to show up night after night giving killer shows only to move on to the next date the following day. Have you ever looked at her tour dates? Night after night after night. No one maintains a schedule the way she does. I remember a few years ago she got sick and had to cancel her show at The Olympic Stadium in Montreal. Within a couple of weeks she was back onstage fulfilling her contract. No one makes up a missed show within such a short period of time. Rod Stewart missed his show here in Toronto and it took him a whole year to fulfill his commitment. She’s super human, there can be no denying that, and her relationship with her fans has never shown one scintilla of being anything but sincere. So to hear her say she’d prefer to avoid them comes across as ungrateful and disrespectful. On the flip side, Tina’s given us decades of superb entertainment, her show’s have never been anything less than pure full out rock & roll. Both her Mom and her Sister have passed within a few years of each other so perhaps she needs time to heal and the way she expressed that need came out wrong. One thing I know for sure is that she’s created a living legacy through her music, songs that have reached every corner of this world. The songs that have had a powerful impact on me personally have been..

    Help
    Two People
    Rock “N roll Widow
    Paradise is Here
    Change is Gonna Come
    Take Me to the River
    Back Where You Started
    Private Dancer
    Be Tender with Me Baby
    Shake A Tail Feather
    I Wrote A Letter

These are just a few of the numbers Tina’s left us. She’s created a massive legacy that will be here a hundred years from now. She’s given us SO much, lifted us up when things were dark, gave us strength when we were weak. If Tina doesn’t perform another song for the rest of her life, she’s already left us more music than we could ever need. Her contribution to the world of music and to the fans who love her has been unparalleled, she’s given and given and given. So at this point in her life if she wants to kick back and stare at the ocean I can’t think of another artist who deserves it more than Tina Turner does.

It’s unfair to say she owes her fans anything more than she’s already given. She paid her dues a long time ago. I too am extremely disappointed with her comments about not being reachable to her fans, but the more I thought about it the more I realized she owes us nothing. We’ve been blessed to have her in our lives, now it’s her turn to enjoy the rewards of a career she’s worked so hard at.

  9. With some of the reactions i understand why you would want to be ‘not reachable’. Some ‘fans’ expect her to be in show business till the day she dies. She has often enough said she is retired so what’s there to talk about. If she decides to come back some day for a certain project or album, she will be accessible again. It is weird though saying this while promoting a communications app lol

  10. I wanna see the whole interview. Anyone knows if it exists? Looks like it’s cut off. And now I hear what she said, ” I definitely PREFER not to be reachable and TOO accessible to fans who just wants to talk. ” she prefers not to be BUT she IS. Most celebrities don’t want to be TOO accessible to fans.

  11. Privacy is a human right. To keep yourself in balance, you must be out of reach, otherwise… Tina is a personality, a famous artist, let’s not forget her right to her freedom of choice. Who wants to live in the public eye so much? I don’t find nothing unusual in her words. Let’s analyse it well.

  13. I adore Tina Turner and nothing has been easy for her. At her age now she needs to live in peace and embrace all that makes her happy and content. Fans may have put her on top but she had to do the work to earn their support in the first place. It seems obsession can take over some people where they believe they have the right to every inch of the celebrity they admire. REALISTICALLY speaking Tina was out there on a Tour when she was around 70 yrs of age. Thats no mean feat and must have exhausted the hell out of her but she did it for her fans. She has earnt every penny she has by sheer hard work and as a musician I know what that entails. Not even remotely glamorous behind the scenes! Lots of schedules, rehearsals and stamina required. I think Fans have been left with the most amazing memories of a fantastic female who is not only an icon but served as a reminder that if life goes down the pan you pick yourself up and you fight your way forward. I love Tinas beautiful heart and like a butterfly if you love her, you let her go. She is strength personified and I will respect her always and wish her that mountain of serenity she worked for all these years. Im so happy for her. Go Tina – be free x..

  14. Tina is 74 years old with a heart condition for which she is on medication . She has been in show business since the age of 19 years old and before this she worked as a nurse, a chilminder and housekeeper for a local familyShe also had seasonal cotton picking work. I do not think it is unreasonable for her to have a retirement phase to her life where she can enjoy the fruit of her labour and be free from the expectations of her public life.
She told Oprah that when she views videoes of her concerts she is on the edge of her seat. She loved her work and stated that she has to retire because fans would not accept her presenting her music in any other form and as she progress in age this is not sustainable.
Lets us all wish her well and keep her work alive.

  15. Woah..I think the fans who feel slighted and “hurt” by Tina’s remarks are taking what she said out of context and interpreting her words as literal. I get what she means. She has said on several occasions, particulary lately, that one of the main reasons she moved to Switzerland was for privacy–the people there leave her alone and respect her right to live as a normal person. We live in a media age where every star’s move is photographed and reported on, especially in the U.S. She’s from a different era and generation when her goal wasn’t just to be a celebrity; she became famous through her work. She’s been actively seen in the spot light for over 50 years now and just wants to live out the remainder of her life in quiet and peace like most of us do. She’s retired and deserves her privacy. Also, Tina never quite gives a good interview unless it’s directly about her career and projects. She seems a bit nervous and also says things that are a bit “off”. I’m sure TT is very grateful for all the fans’ love and devotion and knows we’re what fueled her career. I don’t think she really meant to convey that she doesn’t appreciate her fans.

  17. She’s tired, she has been through a lot and given so much in performance. Just as others in retirement, she deserves peace, quite, and privacy as desired, She will appear publicly from time to time as it IS a part of her, and she will miss us as we miss her. She may even come out and perform from time to time, but she wants to be remembered as the vibrant performer, Tina, who can awe and engage her fans. She remains an upstanding, precious woman deserving of the greatest respect and admiration. We do still love her and we will miss her, but we will see her now and again.
