We were all waiting to see what kind of surprises 2018 would offer and it started earlier today with the statement released by the Recording Academy indicating that Tina Turner would be among the recipients of the 2018 Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award!

Marking the Grammy’s 60th ceremony but also Tina’s 60th Anniversary in the music business, it was the year it was supposed to happen. Ten years ago, Tina teamed up with Beyonce for what would become another legendary performance from the Queen of Rock and Queen Bey.

Tina Turner is the winner of 8 Grammys and has been nominated 25 times.

This year other honorees include  Neil Diamond, Emmylou Harris, Louis Jordan and English Rock band Queen. A special award presentation ceremony and concert celebrating the honorees will be held in summer 2018. Additional details regarding the ceremony will be announced in the coming weeks.

Heralded as the Queen of Rock and Roll, Turner remains a global recording star worldwide. She earned her first GRAMMY at the 14th GRAMMY Awards with Ike Turner for their rendition of “Proud Mary,” which took home Best R&B Vocal Performance By A Group. She’s since added an additional seven wins to her tally, most recently as a featured artist on Herbie Hancock‘s Album Of The Year-winning River: The Joni Letters at the 50th GRAMMY Awards.

Congratulations TINA!

  1. I can think of no one more deserving of this honor in acknowledgement of a lifetime devoted to music than Tina Turner! She embodies all that is wonderful in the music world! I have loved and respected Tina and her music for decades and one of my greatest moments of happiness in my life was flying all the way to London from Seoul Korea to attend one of her last tour concerts there! So happy to hear this news!
