March 22, 2009: TINA live in Arnhem

Tina Turner Live 2009

8 years ago, Tina Turner was in the middle of a series of concerts (March 21 and 22 and May 2) at the GelreDome in Arnhem, The Netherlands. The shows were the biggest during Tina’s 50th Anniversary Tour, with approximately 33,000 fans in the stadium each night. Together with the concert in Prague, these were the only concerts with a standing audience. For this reason, the show was recorded for the dvd of the tour, but it was special also for a lot of other reasons, you read all about it here

To celebrate, two new video uploads from TINA’s last tour, not from Arnhem but from Helsinki with a powerful rendition of ‘We Don’t Need Another Hero’ and one of Tina’s all time favorite song ‘Addicted To Love’ ! Enjoy!

TINA: Lotus Sutra / Purity of Mind

The meaning of the Lotus Sutra is ‘I devote my life to the Mystic Law of the Lotus Sutra’.

It is the royal sutra of Nichiren Buddhism in Japan (1253). Coming from India to China and then to Japan, the prayer was translated from the Sanskrit word ‘Saddharma-pundarikasutra’ first into classical Chinese as ‘Miao-fa Lien-hua Ching’ and then into an ancient form of Japanese as ‘Myoho Renge Kyo’.

The word ‘Nam’ derives from the Sanskrit ‘names’ and means ‘devotion’. It is placed before the name of all deities when worshipping them.

‘Myo’ is the name given to the mystic nature of life and ‘Ho’ to its manifestation.

‘Renge’ means lotus flower. The beautiful and undefiled Lotus blooms in a muddy swamp with all the obstacles against it. It symbolizes the emergence of our Buddha nature from the everyday problems and desires of ordinary life. ‘Renge’ stands also for the simultaneity of cause and effect, because the lotus puts forth its flower and seedpod at the same time.

‘Kyo’ literally means sutra, the voice and teaching of the Buddha.
It also means sound rhythm or vibration and therefore it might be interpreted to indicate the practice of chanting. Since everything in the universe is connected through sound waves, ‘Kyo » refer to the life activity of universal phenomena and indicates that everything is a manifestation of the Mystic Law.

‘Myoho-Renge-Kyo’ is the Mystic Law of the Lotus Sutra. An explanation can help you understand, but the Sutra can only be fully appreciated through chanting it.

TINA:

‘However you must do it, to truly understand. When you say ‘Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo’ it will slowly remove all of the bad decisions you have ever made. The more you repeat the words the more you make your life clearer. The more you chant it the closer you get to your true nature. Your true nature is the right way of thinking and the right way of acting. The longer you go on this path, the more you avoid making wrong decisions. The Lotus Sutra helps me in my daily life. It is indeed mystical! And my life has proven this!’

Diva Las Vegas

You know it doesn’t get better than THE Turner’s live… Back in the 60’s & 70’s Ike & Tina Turner were one of the hottest touring band on earth. The mix of Ike’s musical genius and Tina’s breathtaking performances is still inspiring for millions of music lovers worldwide. Their story, as well as their music, is unique and now belongs to the collective memory. Unfortunately, the releases of Ike & Tina video concerts can be counted on the fingers of one hand. So we have to content ourselves with old TV broadcast who would truly deserve a digital treatment…
We can only hope that someday some BluRay/HD release will surface. Until then, here is a new upload for all the Ike & Tina fans out there: Ike & Tina Turner live in Las Vegas back in 1971! Recorded live at the Caesar’s Palace, the show captures the rawness of their performance and songs are intersected with interviews of the notorious duo! Enjoy!

TINA in studio

tina-turner-recording-beyond-iv-spiritual-message-zurich-december-2016
It’s a picture we would like to see more often: TINA in a recording studio! Taken last December in Zurich, Tina looks radiant and appears very concentrated on her message! But don’t get your hopes too high, Miss Tina isn’t recording a new rock album, she is just putting her voice again on a few tracks for the upcoming Beyond album due to be released later this year. Apart from that, it’s been very quiet lately, TINA, The Musical is still in development and the first newsletter should arrive soon! Until then here’s a couple of new photos posted by the musical team on social networks.

‘Break Every Rule’ Interview

tina turner break every rule interview cd lp .png

“People come and say ‘I have to get your autograph because my son is always trying to get me to go back to work and I say ‘no I am too old’ and they say ‘well, Tina Turner did it’! It seems that I have broken all the rules!”

Back in 1986, Tina Turner was heavily promoting the follow up album to the masterpiece Private Dancer, her second solo album, Break Every Rule. To support the release,  Tina recorded a long interview as promo material for the radio. Here is today!

The interview is 55 minutes long and a lot of subjects are reviewed:

Of course, Tina talks about the recording and the songs of her album BER but also about her autobiography I, Tina, her relationship with Ike, David Bowie and much more. A very candid and fun Tina who sometimes reveals more that you would expect! And that’s what we like!

‘I Don’t Sing About My Past’

Back to 1999: Tina Turner is heavily promoting her latest studio album Twenty Four Seven. Wheels started to turn for Tina after her incendiary  performance during VH1’s Divas Live and after the cancelation of a tour with Elton John, she went her own way. Massive promotion across the ocean for what would be Tina’s last album and last stadium tour. A new upload today, thanks to Kristian from Norway, with this video interview of Tina a couple of days before her appearance at the Nobel Peace Prize concert in Oslo! Looking fantastic, Tina talks about her latest hit When The Heartache Is Over, music and peace!

Paris Loves TINA

tina-turner-paris-2017

It seems like everywhere in the world there’s hidden gems celebrating TINA. From the never dying posters surviving under a bridge in Germany to window painting of the Queen in a deserted St Louis street, here is a new found one in Paris. Located near the famous Moulin Rouge cabaret, this beautiful piece of street art has been created by artist Ilèa and now appears on the walls of the Rue Planquette. Don’t know if it will be permanent but if you ever are in Paris soon, guess it’s a nice spot to get your picture taken with TINA! Thanks to Gustavo for the tip!
