8 years ago, Tina Turner was in the middle of a series of concerts (March 21 and 22 and May 2) at the GelreDome in Arnhem, The Netherlands. The shows were the biggest during Tina’s 50th Anniversary Tour, with approximately 33,000 fans in the stadium each night. Together with the concert in Prague, these were the only concerts with a standing audience. For this reason, the show was recorded for the dvd of the tour, but it was special also for a lot of other reasons, you read all about it here…
To celebrate, two new video uploads from TINA’s last tour, not from Arnhem but from Helsinki with a powerful rendition of ‘We Don’t Need Another Hero’ and one of Tina’s all time favorite song ‘Addicted To Love’ ! Enjoy!

Back in 2008 a promotional video was issued to the press for the announcement of Tina Turner’s 2008/2009 50th anniversary world tour. This video features footage backstage at her appearance on the Oprah show, the rehearsals for her Grammy Awards performance with Beyoncé earlier that year, as well as short interview bites from Tina. Here it is today plus extra footage of rehearsal!
“I know you are not used to this but tonight, get used to it…”
While ending the “50th Anniversary Tour” back in 2009, Tina Turner decided to add a bit of fun (and extra motivation) to her show… Replacing the famous “Nutbush, one more time” routine by a countdown! Starting in Stockholm with “Nutbush, eight more times” all the way to the ultimate bow in Sheffield with “Nutbush, no more time”, watch the last performances of Tina’s hometown song.
Arnhem, situated in the eastern part of the Netherlands is a very famous location for Tina Turner fans for many reasons. In 2009, Tina performed three concerts at the local Gelredome and even recorded the tour dvd there. More recently and in the same arena, a tribute show “The Tina Turner experience” was organized there. But that’s not all, 30 years ago almost day for day, Tina packed the “Box” club and gave a memorable gig. Relive 20 min of this anthologic concert today on the blog! And especially for Xmas an upload of the full “Tube” show from 1983 plus bonus!
4 years ago today, Tina Turner launched her 2008/2009 50th Anniversary Tour in Kansas City, Missouri. She performed to a sold out crowd at the 18,000-seat Sprint Center. This performance was Tina’s first full concert in 8 years, since her 2000 Twenty Four Seven world tour. The 50th Anniversary Tour was a greatest hits tour, and consisted of 90 concerts in North America and Europe, ending on May 5th in Sheffield, UK. In this post you will find photos, audio and a newspaper review from opening night.
A very interesting magazine article on Tina Turner’s 2008/2009 50th anniversary world tour. The article doesn’t focus on Tina, but rather on the production of this enormous show: stage design, video, audio, lighting, pyrotechnics. Many interesting details and it will definitely give you some new insights on the show. Big thanks to Marcin for providing these scans! Click the permalink beneath the photos to get a bigger view.
It’s almost 2 years ago today that Tina Turner played the final of five shows at the Sportpaleis in Antwerp, Belgium. These shows, at the 15,000 seat arena, were among the fastest selling of the tour. All five shows were sold out within an hour after they went on sale. Despite the fast sales, the audiences were quiet and remained seated during most of the show. However, Tina was able to win them over by the end of the night. Below is a collection of more than 140 photos taken by Sjef during the show on April 30, 2009. Enjoy

On our blog, we would also like to share some of the photos we made ourselves during various Tina Turner concerts. On January 30, 2009, Tina performed the first of three sold out concerts at Hamburg’s Color Line Arena. Click below to see a gallery of 78 photos taken during two of these concerts. Plus, a collection of newspaper clippings, with reports and reviews from these shows.
