Out from the Rough album which was Tina’s first solo album after her 1976 split with husband Ike Turner. Her first two solo albums, Tina Turns the Country On! (1974) and Acid Queen (1975), were recorded while she was still married to Ike Turner and also a member of the Ike and Tina Turner Revue.
“Root Toot Undisputable Rock’N’Roller” was the third single out of the album and Tina performed this song on several TV shows in Europe and America. “Night Time Is The Right Time“ from the b-side was already recorded by Ike & Tina, but not released until 1991 on the CD “Good Old Times“.
Here is Tina performing the song on ZDF’s Kultnacht in 1979 for the first time in HD on Youtube!
Back in 2008 a promotional video was issued to the press for the announcement of Tina Turner’s 2008/2009 50th anniversary world tour. This video features footage backstage at her appearance on the Oprah show, the rehearsals for her Grammy Awards performance with Beyoncé earlier that year, as well as short interview bites from Tina. Here it is today plus extra footage of rehearsal!
Back in November 2012, a new DVD entitled ‘Ike & Tina Turner On The Road: 1971-1972′ was released. The movie consists of footage shot by world-renowned rock photographer Bob Gruen and his wife Nadya while touring together with the Ike & Tina Turner revue in the early 1970’s. Bob and Nadya developed a close relationship with the duo, and the DVD features many candid on stage and off stage moments. The Tina Turner Blog had an exclusive interview with Bob Gruen about the dvd and his personal relationship with Ike and Tina. We never had much time to edit the video interview but today, it’s finally here! Enjoy!
Some of us already had the pleasure of watching the new Ike & Tina Turner DVD by Bob & Nadya Gruen. We enjoyed it a lot and asked a few of our friends and Tina historians Alan, Hank & Marco to review it for the blog. Since their full stories were too big for print, below you’ll find a glimpse at each one of their reviews on the blog. And since they all are worth a reading, the unedited versions of the reviews are available to download!
