In 1986, Tina Turner in collaboration with Kurt Loder published the interview-style top selling biography, ‘I, Tina’. Back then, the world discovered the multiple struggles that young Anna Mae faced during her early life as well as during her turbulent relationship with cocaine-addicted guitar-genius Ike Turner (1931-2007).
While the journalists and the general audience were amazed by the resilience and strength of the forty-seven-year-old singer, few understood that behind Tina’s success, there was a very disciplined mental training. Tina was introduced to a new way of thinking according to the rules of the Lotus Sutra: one of several forms of Buddhist-practice inspired by the life of monk Nichiren (13th century A.D.) This is the path that born Baptist Tina Turner followed since the mid-seventies, faithfully mixing it with the Lord prayers. While promoting her biography and years later Disney’s biopicture ‘What’s Love Got To Do With it?’, the question had to be asked: Would Tina be willing to write a book about her journey in Buddhism, would she tell how it could also help us overcome our daily problems and how to get to the point where you feel physically and mentally balanced?
The fans waited patiently but besides a few interviews about her faith, Tina remained silent.

Since this blog is called Tina Turner Blog well maybe we have to talk to you a bit about Tina Turner’s new release. That’s right, a new release! Well according to Parlophone… Because of course, there’s nothing new about this new “Love Song” compilation, even not the cover. No new songs or previously unreleased tracks, just classics put together to sell a couple of cd’s on Valentine’s Day. And don’t expect 74-year old Turner to make any promotional appearances in support of the album, as she is “happily retired” from the music business according to her spokesperson.
In the Spring of 2014, Tina Turner, Regula Curti & Dechen Shak-Dagsay will return with “Beyond; Love Within” this time with a new addition to the team, Indian singer Sawani Shende-Sathaye. Like in “Beyond” & “Children Beyond”, “Beyond, Love Within” will feature Buddhist, Christian and Hindu Prayers. And of course great performances by all the singers… Be ready for some goosebumps!
Now the point du jour! The video clip for the peace mantra “Sarvesham Svastir Bhavatu” has just reached the milestone of 1 Million Views and still growing strong! It’s awesome to see that it is still shared and commented a lot daily, and that its message of peace is spreading around the world and different cultures. By the time of its release, the clip was made very quickly and the result could have been much better, so here is a rework version, now in 720p. The new clip contains more footage of Tina from the “Children Beyond” documentary and also a small bit with Tina from the recording session! Enjoy!
