Some of us already had the pleasure of watching the new Ike & Tina Turner DVD by Bob & Nadya Gruen. We enjoyed it a lot and asked a few of our friends and Tina historians Alan, Hank & Marco to review it for the blog. Since their full stories were too big for print, below you’ll find a glimpse at each one of their reviews on the blog. And since they all are worth a reading, the unedited versions of the reviews are available to download!

Last weekend, the musical Soul Sister based on Tina Turner’s career and her marriage to Ike Turner, opened in London’s Hackney Empire theater. And good news: the musical has received mostly very positive reviews, and especially Emi Wokoma’s portrayal of Tina Turner is applauded. Above, you can find a video of a BBC report on the new musical, thanks to Alan! Below is a selection of reviews that appeared on the web. We congratulate the production team of the musical on their success. What’s more, this is clearly a sign that the audience and critics alike haven’t forgotten about Tina yet – dare we say time for another comeback, Miss Turner?
14 years ago, Tina Turner was performing a seven night run at New York City’s famous Radio City Music Hall. These concerts were part of her huge Wildest Dreams world tour. While in Europe, Tina played in football stadiums and big arenas, in North-America the concerts were also held in smaller outdoor venues and theaters such as Radio City. Below, you will find several newspaper reviews of these concerts. Special thanks once again to Hans for providing these articles!
