‘She Dreamed a Dream’
From ‘Les Miserables’ to ‘FourTina’, Nurlaila Wolda-Karim saw big and got big! Today, everyone wonders if she will land the role of Tina Turner in the upcoming TINA Musical! We talked about it a couple of days ago in Rotterdam.
Rotterdam, The Netherlands. A weekend that starts with Grace Jones can only turn into an unusual and crazy weekend. First, a short detour by Paris on Friday to say a quick hello to Warhol & Goude’s muse who was signing her autobiography (I’ll Never Write My Memoirs – Simon & Schuster) at the very chic, Rive Gauche, ‘Bon Marché’. Always thrilling to approach people of that caliber and who have a lot in common with Tina. But not much time to spend there and to get emotional. I am expected to be in Amsterdam the next day to visit a few places we want to book for TINA77, our annual Fan Birthday Party, and the weekend is supposed to end in Rotterdam with an interview.
Back in November 2012, a new DVD entitled ‘Ike & Tina Turner On The Road: 1971-1972′ was released. The movie consists of footage shot by world-renowned rock photographer Bob Gruen and his wife Nadya while touring together with the Ike & Tina Turner revue in the early 1970’s. Bob and Nadya developed a close relationship with the duo, and the DVD features many candid on stage and off stage moments. The Tina Turner Blog had an exclusive interview with Bob Gruen about the dvd and his personal relationship with Ike and Tina. We never had much time to edit the video interview but today, it’s finally here! Enjoy!
Jamie had the chance to interview Valentina Sguera for the Tina Turner Blog. Valentina is a free lance make up artist who had the chance to work with Tina for a Armani event! Read the interview below!

From fitness instructor to performing in front of 20,000 people as Tina Turner: what a difference a year makes. Emi Wokoma had such year. In April of 2012, Emi took on the role of Tina Turner in the West End musical ‘Soul Sister’. Since then, the musical went on to become one of the biggest hits of the theater season. Starting with several months at the Hackney Empire and the Savoy Theatre, the show then went on the road throughout the United Kingdom, Ireland and the Netherlands. The spectacle was unanimously applauded by the press: every reviewer especially praised the musical’s lead performer. This eventually lead to Emi being asked to perform a concert as Tina Turner, this December in the Netherlands, in front of 20,000 people. It will be the biggest Tina tribute concert ever organized. The Tina Turner Blog had an exclusive interview with Emi.
