Ike & Tina Turner 1969 - Playboy After Dark

1969Année Erotique… as sang by French singer Serge Gainsbourg, the song evoke a ludic sexual position as implied in its title “69, Année Erotique” and of course it also testify of the sexual liberations of those years and indeed everywhere in the world it was hot, it was steamy, it was raunchy! Sexual revolution was on its way and with her volcanic performances, 30 years old Tina Turner  was a part of this revolution. Ike took advantage of it and of course everybody remember the incendiary rendition of “I’ve Been Loving You Too Long” filmed for the Rolling Stones documentary Gimme Shelter. Anyway, knowing it or not as Tina didn’t talk much about feminism through her career she inspired many women and let’s not be scared to say it many men with her incredible charisma. And the image she projected definitely made an impact then and even more later with the release of Private Dancer.Back to December 1969, the Turner were just back from touring the US with the Rolling Stones, bringing their performances to younger white audiences and getting great revues focusing on Tina’s mesmerizing performances. And to end the year 69 on a hot peak, what else than a performance on the king of the Playboy Empire’s tv-show, Hugh Hefner! Ike must have been thrilled by the idea and the deal! So here they are, Ike & Tina Turner with their Revue, 10 years after their debut in St Louis (Missouri) and at the pinnacle of their career performing a four songs showcase! Of course, Tina’s performance is incredible as usual and I know it is not that rare for fans being on Youtube for a while but I don’t think the full segment was and I am quite sure, not in that quality! So I hope everybody enjoys it!

And of course, we wish you a very Happy and Healthy 2016 and like in 1969, let’s wish for Love, Not War.
