In 2009, we got something from Tina Turner which we did not expect at all. What happens if a rock star, a member of the entertainment business and your personal hero suddenly confronts you with personal and even religious beliefs? As you somehow cannot ignore what your hero is doing you have to deal with it….
August, 17th 1984 – Let´s go back to 1984, zoom in to August in the time dimension, narrow it down to the evening of the 17th, and find a location called the Park West. We might even add that we have a ticket – one of not more than 800-1000 – to a concert of a newcomer – or rather an old war horse but now in new armor and carrying new arrows in her quiver: Tina Turner will play the Park West tonight on her “Private Dancer Tour”.

Two remix albums have caught our attention lately and we simply have to say: check them out and import them into your music machine: „TINA Remixed“ which features many songs from the „24/7“ album and „The Album of Tina Turner“ which contains various hits from all albums in a new version. You can listen to these two albums online on Arquest´s Soundcloud or Youtube channels. You can also find him and his music on his Blogspot website: Arquest Remixes.
Of course, you have been to New York City and you think you have seen it all. The Statue of Liberty, Wall Street, Central Park, and you even walked down Broadway…you name it. But in fact, as a real Tina Turner fan you only have seen everything NYC has to offer when you paid a visit to the locations for the “What´s Love Got To Do With It” promo video clip. Blog photographer Stephen (who has his own Facebook group for top TINA photos) went all the way from Dallas, TX to the famous sites where they shot Tina Turner´s video for her #1 hit. And next time you go to New York City for yourself, you can use this extra-nerdy top-secret tourist guide for your tour!
2016 is already two months old and so far, we did not hear anything from Tina Turner, her record company or anybody else about a mandatory ‘de luxe edition’ and commemorative box set of her “Break Every Rule” album which turns 30 this year. What we heard, however, were literally a dozen requests from our readers for such a release so that we feel compelled to cry out for help in this matter: We want “Break Every Rule” released in a spectacular 30th anniversary edition! (By the way, Thanks for ‘Private Dancer 30th Anniversary’ last year Mr Bach!)
Just to be clear about this: this is not really a mere suggestion or a hint that such a release is absolutely essentially necessary and highly awaited but rather a demand. Just think of it as an online petition. But we safe you the burden of reading through our Excel sheets with all the names and email addys and simply call a spade, a spade here.

2016 will be a Tina Turner Super Year. There are so many anniversaries it will be difficult to find any space left in the calendar which is not filled with albums or singles which were released so many years ago that they already pile up to decades. This introduction into 2016 will prepare you and your nerves for the Tina Turner rollercoaster ride you can expect but for which you might not be ready without seeing the big picture.
