Diva Las Vegas

You know it doesn’t get better than THE Turner’s live… Back in the 60’s & 70’s Ike & Tina Turner were one of the hottest touring band on earth. The mix of Ike’s musical genius and Tina’s breathtaking performances is still inspiring for millions of music lovers worldwide. Their story, as well as their music, is unique and now belongs to the collective memory. Unfortunately, the releases of Ike & Tina video concerts can be counted on the fingers of one hand. So we have to content ourselves with old TV broadcast who would truly deserve a digital treatment…
We can only hope that someday some BluRay/HD release will surface. Until then, here is a new upload for all the Ike & Tina fans out there: Ike & Tina Turner live in Las Vegas back in 1971! Recorded live at the Caesar’s Palace, the show captures the rawness of their performance and songs are intersected with interviews of the notorious duo! Enjoy!

Tina Turner - Missing You singles - 1996

Missing You is a song featured on Tina Turner’s 1996 record Wildest Dreams, and the third single of that album. The song is a John Waite cover, who had a number one hit with it in 1984. The video for the song was filmed by photographer Peter Lindbergh, and was part of Tina’s promotional campaign for Hanes Hosiery. The song was also performed live during every night of the 1996/1997 Wildest Dreams tour. In this post, we look back at the origins of this song.

December 30, 1999: Tina performs in Las Vegas

12 years ago today, Tina Turner performed at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, United States. This was one of two ‘Millenium concerts’, the second concert took place one day later on December 31st. The shows were double headliner gigs with Elton John. Tina & Elton were originally supposed to go on tour together, but these plans were cancelled after an argument during the rehearsals for their Divas Live appearance earlier that year (see here). These two concerts in Las Vegas were the only shows they did together, however, Tina and Elton played separate sets and didn’t appear on stage together. The show on December 30 was open to everybody, the real new year’s eve show a day later was a private show. Below, you will find three songs from this concert and the set list of Tina’s show.
