Tina’s very private concert in Brunei happened on April 13, 1996 for the birthday of the Sultan’s niece. Here’s what Deseret News wrote at the time:
Tina Turner lived up to the name of her album “Private Dancer,” giving a secret performance for the family of the sultan of Brunei.
The 57-year-old star sang for an audience of 300 in Brunei this week at a party to celebrate the 19th birthday of the niece of Sultan Hassanal Bol-kiah, the world’s richest man. Guests included celebrities flown in from around the world.
Turner’s manager Roger Davies refused to say anything more about the event. The oil-rich sultan lets little news of royal activities emerge from his 1,778-room palace.
“We have actually signed a form saying we haven’t seen a thing,” Turner’s sound engineer Rory Madden said. “We haven’t seen anything except decadence beyond belief. There were gold doors, gold everything and 10,000 roses flown in from London for the party.”

You really know how and when to cheer me up.
Just went thru surgery yesterday on my spine to add a second neural stimulator in my spine.
The article and videos did the trick.
The icing on the cake is still the chance I had to add an essay to Tina Turner’s 80 birthday present.
