Throughout her illustrious career, Tina Turner has been shot by countless photographers.

From Peter Lindbergh to Lord Snowden through Herb Ritts, each one of them captured Tina’s inner beauty and style in their own way. And if there’s one Tina trusted, it is certainly Paul Cox.

When Paul Cox captured Tina’s legendary comeback performance with Heaven 17 on Channel 4’s The Tube in 1983, it was the beginning of a friendship that would last for over two decades. During that time Paul was commissioned to photograph Tina on numerous video and artwork shoots and during many of her live performances.

Simply Tina contains a selection of previously unseen photographs that candidly tell Tina’s story through a mixture of live shots, promo, press, and video shoots, onstage, in action, and behind the scenes. Other artists including David Bowie, Rod Stewart, Bryan Adams, Wilson Pickett, and Robert Cray feature, alongside a young Naomi Campbell, who appeared in one of Tina’s videos.

With a foreword by Martyn Ware and captions by respected music writer Daryl Easlea, Simply Tina is a unique collection that captures an icon on and off duty, at ease in Paul Cox’s professional company. The book is a beautiful and fitting tribute that charts two decades when Tina became – and remained – a global superstar.
