It’s 4 o’clock in the morning, November 25th. I’m in my hotel room, and I can’t sleep. I feel the need to talk to you. Tomorrow, you would have been 85, and I don’t think I’ve ever missed you more than I do now.

There’s so much I should write. The brutal, honest truth about what’s my life been like for a long time but as long as my family is around, there are things I can’t openly talk about.

Since your passing, it’s been hard to keep the momentum of the Tina Blog alive.

I couldn’t bring myself to post, to share, or to celebrate you as I did before. It’s not that I don’t want to, it’s just that I’ve been stuck. A feeling of being completely obsolete has taken hold of me..

When I look at all the amazing content on YouTube and social media, I can’t help but feel like you deserve better than what I can offer.

The truth is, hiding in sorrow doesn’t honour the legacy you left behind. Your strength still inspires me—and so many others—every single day. I know it’s time for me to step up and continue the work you sparked in me, to celebrate you the way you truly deserve.

And then there’s our annual Tina Turner party. Seeing my Tina friends from all over the world this weekend in Cologne fills me with deep joy and renewed energy. They mean more to me than they know. The connections you inspired are still alive and thriving. Those moments give me hope and a little push to keep going.

During our party, I met some people for the first time who told me how much they appreciated the blog and missed its content. Honestly, I never thought I had an impact on anyone. I’ve always seen myself as a simple messenger for your work, a transparent vector, a useful idiot to some.

But hearing those kind words made me think that what I’m doing probably matters, even in small ways. It gives me the feeling that maybe, and I say maybe, I’m not totally dead inside and forgotten.

The world  desperately needs more people like you—your grace, your courage, your incredible humanity.

Thank you for everything. For the music, the lessons, the love, and the unspoken bond we shared through every note you sang and every step you danced. You’ve been a guiding force in my life, and your influence will never fade.

I miss you.

  7. We all flag from time to time – even though we are very committed. I believe it’s an opportunity to review and recommit. Renewal does us all an enormus amount of good. Tina Turner is still with all of us who believed in her – like many women I had a very violent husband in the early 70s and it waws Tina who got me through it even though we never met. Such was her goodness. I am forever thankful for her in my life.

  8. Hi there Ben, thank you for the lovely message and reminder of how much TINA meant to us. Tina had the most amazing strength and courage, she was a beacon to all women who have been in her situation and all others who may find themselves there. I recently saw the musical in Melbourne and was blown away. I ended up in tears as you can imagine, reliving her fabulous music and the sheer joy of (almost) seeing her presence again.

I saw a photo of her recently in which she looked tired, with a sadness in her eyes and I thought, yeah, she had done enough. Her physical strength and determination was astonishing, when you realize the battles that she was going through with her health. But, she gave us her all, and for that we can be eternally grateful. She left us with a legacy that is unmatched by any other performer (I feel), Just watch her video…Something Beautiful Remainshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1uXLFtXpeFU , and you’ll see what I mean. Thanks for your work.

    1. Thank you so much Shez for your heartfelt message. Your words beautifully capture the profound impact Tina had on all of us. It’s incredible to hear that you had the chance to experience the musical in Melbourne—it must have been such an emotional and moving tribute to her legacy. I can only imagine the mix of joy and tears that must have come with reliving her music and feeling her presence through that powerful performance.

It’s true, Tina’s strength and courage were nothing short of remarkable. She faced so many challenges with grace and determination, and her ability to channel those experiences into her art is something we’ll always treasure. I know exactly what you mean about her looking tired in some of her later photos—she gave so much of herself to the world, and yet she still managed to leave us with an unmatched legacy.

Thank you for sharing Something Beautiful Remains. It’s such a poignant and fitting reflection of her spirit—her ability to create beauty even in the face of adversity. I’ll definitely take some time to watch it again and reflect on all she’s given us.

Thanks again for reaching out and for your kind words. Tina’s light truly lives on in all of us who continue to celebrate her life and music.

      Warm regards,

I so appreciate your letter to tina. It’s honest and vulnerable and reaching out - all very good things in times of loss and grief. Tina has been a huge force in our lives, and very especially yours - she hears, knows, and I imagine is present in your energetic field. You feel like someone with a strong life force. Tina’s loss is a major dis-orientation for one’s life. I trust in time, you will re-orient and re-configure with Tina, You, and all that is important and meaningful to you. Much Love

  22. Dear Ben,

I don’t think I ever posted any comment on your blog even though I’ve read every single one of your blog entries/news.

I used to come here everyday in hope of reading any new exciting news about our beloved Tina, about her work or any other record or book that was about to come out. It was you that provided me such joy. I could feel your words and your light and it felt so good

Then, on the tragic May of 2023 a few days apart of losing a very important family member we lose the phisical presence of our dear Tina.

It was hard for me to come here again. It was painful not only for myself but also by realising you too were in pain with this loss.

However life does go on, and we must keep living knowing that our love for her, her words, her songs, her smile and laugh, and most important of all her teachings will always be with us as long as we cherish them.

THANK YOU Ben for being there for us as well.

    My Love to You,

    J Carlos (Portugal)
