Dutch musical producer and business man Joop van den Ende has announced he will collaborate with Tina Turner on a musical production of her life. He just revealed the first details about the show this evening on Dutch television. For several years, Joop has been negotiating with Tina, visiting her several times in Zurich. Last weekend, the contract was finally signed, when Tina and her husband Erwin Bach visited Joop and his wife at their home in The Netherlands.
Today, Her Royal Highness The Queen’s most famous agent is back! The 23rd James Bond movie ‘Skyfall’ will have its world release: and Adele penned and recorded the soundtrack. She did a terrific job – a song in the original Bond style: a first since Tina Turner sang the title track of GoldenEye.
Back in 1995, Bono and The Edge of U2 sent a demo track to Tina & Roger Davies (her manager). They liked it: she recorded it, he promoted it. The result was a European hit single which led Tina to record her 1996 Wildest Dreams album and to tour the world. The song is also featured on the new album The Best Of Bond that was released this month: order on Amazon Germany, UK or USA.
On November 21, 1995, a few days short of her 56th birthday, Tina, looking stylish and radiant in black suit, appeared at the premiere of GoldenEye at the Odeon at Leicester Square. Watch this video, including a very nice interview with Tina (big thanks to Michael for some of the video footage!), and her encounter with Prince Charles (together with Pierce Brosnan, Judi Dench & Famke Janssen). And try to spot Tina’s cute wink at the camera man!

Last weekend, the musical Soul Sister based on Tina Turner’s career and her marriage to Ike Turner, opened in London’s Hackney Empire theater. And good news: the musical has received mostly very positive reviews, and especially Emi Wokoma’s portrayal of Tina Turner is applauded. Above, you can find a video of a BBC report on the new musical, thanks to Alan! Below is a selection of reviews that appeared on the web. We congratulate the production team of the musical on their success. What’s more, this is clearly a sign that the audience and critics alike haven’t forgotten about Tina yet – dare we say time for another comeback, Miss Turner?
As most of you know, yesterday was the opening of the new musical about Ike & Tina Turner in London. Fellow Tina fan Jamie attended it and wrote a review of the musical for the blog.
