Although the official start of Tina Turner’s European Wildest Dreams tour was on May 3, 1996 in Paris and there were already some try-out shows for the new tour in April in Asia and South-Africa, the first show in Europe was in a rather unusual place. On May 1, 1996, Tina performed in the snow in the Austrian ski resort of Ischgl. The resort is known for hiring international starts to end the wintersports season. The show was special in many ways: not the real stage was used, Tina and the band were dressed in wintersports outfits, and the show took place in daylight during the afternoon. Included below is an article from the ‘Ischgl magazine’, a small news report about Tina’s visit and some photos. Anyone who was at the show: we would love to hear your experiences!

I am looking for a video of that concert in Ischgl. I was there, and saw a few people with a video cam. Unfortunately, I never saw a video on the Internet of this great show. If you have one, please post here 🙂
