Some great news for all of us fans that just popped up this week!

First, Ike & Tina coming on Blu-Ray. A pair of classic Sixties concert films, 1964’s T.A.M.I. Show and its 1966 follow-up The Big T.N.T. Show, will come to Blu-ray together for the first time this December as a two-disc collection’s edition. For the Blu-ray release, both films received a high-definition transfer, as evidenced by the first sample of the upcoming release: Ike & Tina Turner’s explosive cover of James Brown’s “Please, Please, Please” from The Big T.N.T. Show. Pre-Order here!

Second, Goldenlane records is set to release a 3 cd Box Set of Ike & Tina Turner recordings under the Pompeii Label. Between 1960 and 1970, the groundbreaking, erratic, and turbulent couple/duo recorded music for a whopping ten plus record labels resulting in nearly 70 singles and some 20 albums. According to a press release, during these recordings Ike & Tina “toured regularly both here and abroad (reportedly averaging some 300 shows a year), made frequent television appearances, and managed to raise a family.”

Anyhow, from 1968-1969, the duo cut a plethora of songs with Pompeii Records, and now the catalog is available on a 3-CD set dubbed ‘The Complete Pompeii Recordings 1968-1969.’

The 3-CD box set will be available starting September 23 from Goldenlane Records, a division of Cleopatra Records, Inc. Pre-Order here!

We will review the BluRay & the Boxset as soon as we’ll get them so stay tune! And please, please, please, we want more releases like those!

  1. The Pompeii recordings are among my favorites and I believe their BEST 60s recordings. Soulful, catchy, and well produced. Too Hot to Hold, It Sho’ Ain’t Me, You Got What You Wanted, I’m Fed Up, Make ‘Em Wait – – on and on. Very excited for this release and highly recommend!

    1. Dear Tina, my name is Dean Soupal and I wanted to send this little message to you. It’s 6:40 AM on October 14, 2016. I hope you are well Tina! You came into my consciousness around 14 years ago. It was in an interesting way. I was reading a magazine and something that you had said and inspired me. Anyway you have been at the forefront of my consciousness for the last several months. I’ve never meant you. Yet Somehow I feel very connected to you Tina. I just wanted to say thank you I love your videos especially the new stuff that you recorded the “beyond” the album it’s very very lovely I post a lot of it on my Facebook page and I tell a lot of my clients about it. You are a ray of light Tina. You certainly have been a raumy of light in my life and I’m helping to spread your ray of light as much as I can thank you so much for being you Tina!
